Fly units.

Fly units in the kitchen.

As we come into the summer its important to make sure that your fly units are 100% ready for the months ahead.

Every year your units should be serviced with new starters and tubes so that they can attract flying insects in the months ahead.

The tubes start to deteriorate after about 11 months meaning they won’t work as they should when flying insects start entering the kitchen of your business.

If you have a glue board unit, the boards should be changed every 2-3 months (maybe even every month if full) even if they still have room on them as the glue on the board will no longer be sticky.

It is important that units are left on 24/7 as they will do their best work at night when there are no other lights on.

The unit also needs to be in correct place, so it is covering the areas of the kitchen where it is needed.
We would always recommend a glue board unit in the kitchen to help stop cross-contamination when catching flies.

The reason for this is bits from the flies can drop off when they are electrocuted in a normal electric fly unit, whereas with a glue board unit the fly just gets stuck meaning there is no chance of cross-contamination.
Glue board units will also catch the smaller flies that can sometimes get missed by electric units.

Fly units play a very important part in keeping your kitchen free of flying insects, but a good standard of cleaning is also important.

If there is stagnant water or food left in bins, it can quickly become a breading ground for insects in the hot weather.

We can include the service and maintenance of your fly units in your pest management program, meaning you do not have to worry about anything.
